Book Review: The Gilded Wolves By Roshani Chokshi

Hello, my fellow adventurers! Today I am reviewing The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi. I received this book as an arc from the publisher and Bookish first in exchange for an honest non-spoiler review so let us hop into it just like Indiana Jones!

From Goodreads:

AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From New York Times, bestselling author Roshani Chokshi comes The Gilded Wolves, a novel set in Paris during a time of extraordinary change—one that is full of mystery, decadence, and dangerous desires...

No one believes in them. But soon no one will forget them.

It's 1889. The city is on the cusp of industry and power, and the Exposition Universelle has breathed new life into the streets and dredged up ancient secrets. Here, no one keeps tabs on dark truths better than treasure-hunter and wealthy hotelier Séverin Montagnet-Alarie. When the elite, ever-powerful Order of Babel coerces him to help them on a mission, Séverin is offered a treasure that he never imagined: his true inheritance.

To hunt down the ancient artifact the Order seeks, Séverin calls upon a band of unlikely experts: An engineer with a debt to pay. A historian banished from his home. A dancer with a sinister past. And a brother in arms if not blood.

Together, they will join Séverin as he explores the dark, glittering heart of Paris. What they find might change the course of history—but only if they can stay alive.

My Critique:

The Gilded Wolves reads like a cross between Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Indiana Jones if he had lived in the time period!

Enter a group of thieves and magic users that join up to find the Eye of Horus.
This ragtag bunch doesn't always get along but they intend to see this quest to the end!

I was hooked by this book from the very first word! The writing style was very fluid and had a nice set pace.
The plot kept you on the edge of your seat even when it is giving you the characters background information.
the diverse mix of characters had personalities that you couldn't help to love even if they weren't the nicest people.
My top two favorite characters have to be Zofia the cutest Pyromanic you'll ever meet and my cupcake Tristen who is a lover of plants and animals just like me!

I heard this is the first book in a trilogy so I really can't wait for the second book to come out soon!

I give this a rating of 5 out 5 stars!

Tell me in the comments if you have read this book and we can gush over it together!
See y'all next time!
