Book Review: Heartless By Marissa Meyer

Hey Reader Friends! Here is another review for Y'all! Heartless by Marissa Meyer so without any further ado let's sit back and enjoy the ride!

From Goodreads:
Long before she was the terror of Wonderland--the infamous Queen of Hearts--she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

Long before she was the terror of Wonderland, she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love. Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next queen.

Then Cath meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the king and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship. Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

In her first stand-alone teen novel, the New York Times-bestselling author dazzles us with a prequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

My Critique:

Cath just wanted to be a simple baker with her best friend, however, her mother father decided she was going to marry the king of wonderland who is pretty much scared of his own shadow and addicted to cath's sweets.
Enter Jest the fun-loving court jester who holds many secrets behind his twinkling eyes.

Alice in Wonderland was and still is one of my favorite fairy tales when I was growing up so when I heard Marissa Meyer was doing a retelling/ pre-equal I knew I had to read it and she did not disappoint me at all.
Here is a little tip though if you are hungry don't read this it will be torture!
make sure you have plenty of snacks by your side because let me tell you by the time I finished this book I was craving scones and tarts by the pound!

unlike the original story this wonderland had slightly more darkness in it and by slightly I meant a lot! Every time something bad started to happen I was on the edge of my seat!

At the same time we have quite a few cute and sweet moments between Cath and Jest that makes you sigh over and over.

I have to say out of the vast and wonderful characters in this book my number one favorites would have to be Cheshire and Jest!
Cheshire is always having fun causing havoc and playing pranks and like a typical cat obsessing over fish! every time he'd pop his head up I would bust a gut laughing!

one the other hand I would love for Jest to come and sweep me over my feet and take me on a wondrous adventure!

Wonderland... wow Marissa Meyer captured the whimsy and peculiarness of the world perfectly!
I love how she made it that dreams could and did manifest themselves into reality!

All in all, this is a 5 out of 5 stars read and I do plan on picking it up again for a re-read soon!

let me know if you have read this book and if you liked it too or if you didn't like it in the comments!

until next Happy reading!
I'm late for an important date! Lynn!
